Lesley Karen Luscombe Makes a mockery of true dogs, this misuse of the word 'protection' and its use to excuse naturally violent dogs (Pit dogs) and unusually crazy dogs (the Dobe above; not a new story, as Laurie says). Protection from a family dog is not the killing of a family child.

I love how the word "protective" gives it an "ok" for aggressive behavior.
A "protective" family dog yesterday mauled an 8-month-old boy to death as his grandmother screamed in horror, unable to wrench the infant from the Doberman's jaws in the family's Brooklyn apartment...

  • Laurie Anne A dobie killing from a few years ago. I don't think the word "protective" can apply to any dog which kills a baby that touches its foot. A dog that attacks and kills is deranged.
